Luis has been practicing meditation for 20 years, ever since discovering Zen Buddhism in Japan. He spent a decade working for a French governmental organization in a performance-driven, highly competitive setting, which gave him a deep understanding of the pressures and challenges faced by office workers today.
Through the not-for-profit solidarity organization he founded in Colombia 13 years ago, he has been able to nurture the values of solidarity, generosity, and patience in his daily life. His meditation teacher training was completed with Dh.Vajracaksu of the Triratna Buddhist Order, and he later chose a fresh start by moving to Lisbon and joining Agora.
Luis is grateful to share with students the tools that have helped him transform his own life and bring more awareness into his everyday experience, including at work. His main influences come from the Zen and Tibetan mindfulness traditions, while the Sufi tradition also inspires him, especially from the time he lived in Turkey. At Agora, he enjoys creating a safe space where students can learn, share, and create, while supporting one another through a strong sense of community. Having recently discovered yoga and practicing it regularly, he also loves building bridges between yoga and Zen-Tibetan meditation, two related traditions that can deeply support each other.
