Lisa Lichtig is an inspiring healer, physician, and community leader. As an integrative holistic family physician, functional medicine doctor, midwife, mother, and plant spirit medicine healer, Dr. Lisa, as she is affectionately known, has supported individuals and families for more than 25 years. In 2003, she deepened her commitment to community service by becoming an initiated firekeeper and ritual leader for Sacred Fire, a nonprofit organization that creates pathways for people and communities around the world to learn, grow, and heal. Lisa facilitates local community and women’s fires and also leads Young Women’s Initiation into Adulthood internationally.
Her academic training, clinical experience, and life among many cultures prepared Lisa for an unexpected spiritual calling in 2000: to become a Mara'akame, or shamanic healer and ceremonial leader, in the Wixárika (Huichol) Tradition. After a demanding 15-year apprenticeship with elder Tsaurixika Don Elias Cowan, she was initiated and inducted into the Sacred Fire Healing Ministry as a Mara'akame in 2014 under the guidance of traditional elder and Tsaurixika Don Jose Sandoval. Today, she offers traditional shamanic healing and life counseling for individuals and couples, as well as healing through group retreats. Lisa also coordinates traditional ceremonies and pilgrimages to sacred sites throughout the year and supports Tsaurixika Don David Wiley in training future healers.
Her grounded presence, devotion, and deep listening help people from all walks of life connect with the Divine Living World. She lives on a beautiful knoll in the mountains of North Carolina with her family and the many other beings around her.
