Lisa Cowen’s path has been shaped by decades of dedicated study and practice. As a child and young adult, she learned directly with Namgyal Rinpoche, and has since continued studying with other esteemed Dharma teachers. Over the past 25 years, she has taken part in meditation retreats and intensive courses spanning a wide range of traditions, from Abhidharma to Vajrayana Yidam practices, as well as Tarot and Dzogchen.
Alongside her deep commitment to awakening, Lisa brings a rich background in art and psychotherapy. She is also a working artist in the film industry, a mother, and a devoted gardener tending an abundant and untamed vegetable garden. A core founder of the Virtual Dharma Temple, she lives in Hamilton, Ontario, and continues to share an approachable blend of the profound and the everyday through her teaching.
Her previous offerings at the DCC included Intro to Mindfulness and Intro to Silent Retreat Practice, reflecting her ongoing commitment to making Dharma practice accessible, grounded, and relevant to daily life.
