Learn how to turn your passion into teaching with Linda Lalita Winnick, Selena Reynolds and Staff. This is the area’s most comprehensive and consistently offered teacher training program, created to give you the knowledge and confidence to teach yoga in both group classes and one-on-one settings, with a focus on the largest student population: beginners and those new to the practice. Many participants join to deepen their understanding of yoga and ayurveda even if they do not intend to teach. The program has been educating teachers since 2004, and that experience matters. Its 9–10 month length is designed to help you graduate with confidence. Alumni have gone on to become successful teachers, launch their own teacher trainings, open studios, teach and travel abroad, and work full time as teachers.
You will study anatomy and physiology, Eastern energetics, breathwork, meditation, and how to teach the primary yoga postures. An introduction to ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India, supports the creation of balanced asana sequences and provides a foundation for continued study in the Yoga Advanced Teacher Training certification program. By exploring yoga philosophy and other traditions, you will gain the ability to offer clear spiritual guidance aligned with your own beliefs. You will also develop business and marketing skills that support your success as a yoga teacher. Pre-arranged internships in established institutions, together with teaching and assisting in Shakti Yoga classes, provide valuable hands-on experience while you contribute through community service.
