Klara began her yoga journey in 2012 at Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre in Cork, Ireland, and from her very first class, she knew she had found something lasting. What drew her in was not only the physical practice, but also the sense of happiness and balance it brought into her life.
After two years of studying with Lalit Kumar and Lisa Fahy, she travelled to India to deepen her knowledge of the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga during a 200-hour TTC with Lalit at Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre in Goa. That month strengthened her respect and love for yoga even more. For Klara, becoming a teacher was only the beginning of a lifelong path, as she believes we are all always students of this ancient science.
Since then, she has shared her practice in many different settings. She taught at a retreat centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and later at a women’s spa in Kampot, Cambodia. In Nepal, she introduced yoga to primary and secondary school students in a Himalayan village where she volunteered. She has also taught private lessons in Ireland, India, the US, and now Iceland, where she combines yoga with reflexology, a field she has worked in since 2010.
Klara knows that people arrive on the mat for many different reasons, and she aims to create a safe space where each student can learn to respect their body at their own pace, free from judgment or criticism. She places strong emphasis on correct alignment, supports poses with adjustments, and offers modifications and props so yoga can be accessible to every body. She believes that age, shape, strength, or flexibility should never be barriers to practice.
With an adventurous spirit, Klara has spent the past decade travelling the world, and yoga has given that journey deeper meaning. Her regular practice helps her stay grounded and balanced wherever she is, and she feels grateful to share her love of yoga with students across the world. Having recently moved to Iceland, she is delighted to be part of the vibrant yoga community in Reykjavik and to teach alongside wonderful teachers at Yoga Shala.
