With years of dedicated Zen practice behind him, Keido Keith Baker began his path in 2003 and was later ordained as a Zen priest by Ryushin Paul Haller. His training has included time at Tassajara and City Center, along with service in a range of temple roles that reflect a deep and steady commitment to the Zen tradition. He also served as the fall 2013 Shuso, or Head Student, at City Center.
Keith’s practice is shaped not only by long experience, but also by a profound personal journey: in 2009, he moved from hard of hearing to profoundly deaf. Today, he continues exploring the meeting point of Deafness, Deaf Culture, and Zen practice, bringing thoughtful insight and lived experience to this work. He is currently part of the Reservations Finance Department.
