Katharina Erdl is a massage and natural health practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in holistic therapies. Trained in Germany, she qualified in 2007 as a registered naturopath, medical herbalist, and massage therapist, and has continued to refine her clinical expertise through ongoing study and hands-on practice.
Her massage approach combines therapeutic, relaxation, and hot stone techniques with targeted modalities such as myofascial release, gua sha, and cupping. Each session is adapted to the individual, with careful attention to technique, pace, and nervous-system awareness to create both effective results and a safe client experience. Myofascial Release (MFR) is a core part of her work, especially for persistent pain patterns, posture-related tension, scar tissue, and long-term injuries. She first trained in MFR in 2020 with Beth Beauchamp, Nelson of Fascia IQ, the leading Fascia Teacher in New Zealand, and has continued to deepen her study ever since. In 2025, she also added Fascial Unwinding to her skill set.
In 2025, Katharina studied Chi Nei Tsang (Abdominal Organ Detox Massage) and Taoist Energy Medicine with Mantak Chia in Thailand, further enriching her own Qi Gong energy cultivation practice.
She also offers holistic facials using certified organic products, including her signature anti-aging facial massage, designed to address lymphatic and muscular tension linked to visible signs of aging.
At the same time, she is expanding her training in functional nutrition and offers online holistic health coaching for women navigating hormonal and digestive challenges.
Katharina has been part of the wellness team at Maruia River Retreat for the past five years, supporting guests with restorative bodywork grounded in presence, care, and skilled touch. As lead therapist, she has played an important role in helping Maruia River Retreat become one of the World's Most Extraordinary Spas for 2026 by Newsweek.
