For the past four years, Karla Moore has been devoted to Vipassana and the dharma, drawing strength and inspiration from a practice that continues to shape her life. As a single mother of three teenagers, she experiences each day as a reminder of how meaningful and precious this path truly is.
She feels especially grateful for the chance to attend retreat twice a year, as these immersive experiences have deepened her insight and expanded her understanding in lasting ways. Time away in retreat also helps her reconnect with the simple details that bring genuine joy, especially when surrounded by nature, where she feels most at home.
Karla’s lifelong desire to serve others has guided her through many forms of care, from rescuing dogs to working as a case coordinator in social services. Now, as a new Big Bear Retreat Manager, she enjoys supporting fellow practitioners from the other side of the retreat experience. Outside of practice, she loves the outdoors, dancing, live music, and dogs.
