Joshua Watherston

Joshua Watherston

Description

Joshua first arrived at the Temple at nineteen for a retreat, though the pull toward it had been building within him for years. Raised hearing about this path through his father, he felt connected to the jungle from an early age. That first retreat changed everything, opening his heart and placing him on the path he still follows today.

For Joshua, the Temple is not just a place of work, but a home — a hospital for the soul and a university of life, where lessons come directly from Mother Nature. He sees it as a beacon of healing and awakening, and as a way to give back in gratitude for all he has received through the plants.

Before joining the Temple team, Joshua studied graphic design and discovered a love for photography as a means of capturing nature’s magic and inspiring others to reconnect with it. That passion has grown into his current role, where he combines images, experiences, and insights to share the Temple’s spirit with the world.

As Communications Coordinator, he oversees social media and design, creates photography and film content, records testimonials, writes newsletters, and supports the Temple’s online community. Joshua feels deeply honoured to serve alongside the Temple and the extraordinary team behind it. For him, it is both a privilege and a calling that continues to shape his life.

He is currently deepening his journey through dieta (sama), with a long-term vision of training in facilitation and one day stepping into leadership at the Temple, carrying forward his family’s legacy of service to the plants, the people, and the planet.
