Through his work with Catskill Fungi, John Michelotti invites people to discover the many ways fungi can support personal and environmental well-being. His offerings include outdoor guided mushroom classes, cultivation courses, educational talks, private consultations, mushroom art, and mushroom health supplements made from mushrooms grown on his family farm in the Catskill Mountains.
John has also contributed to the wider mushroom community in meaningful ways, serving on the Mushroom Advisory Panel for Certified Naturally Grown to help shape standards for ecological mushroom production. He is the President of the Mid-Hudson Mycological Association (MHMA), a member of the North American Mycological Association (NAMA), and part of the Amazon Mycorenewal Project, which explores how fungi can help remediate oil spills in the Amazon Rainforest.
His mission is to educate and inspire others to work with fungi in ways that can benefit health, the environment, and local communities.
