Widely recognized as a master keyboardist, John Medeski has built a career that moves fluidly across styles, with more than 300 works to his credit. Best known as one-third of the pioneering trio Medeski Martin & Wood, he is also an in-demand improviser, band leader, and producer whose collaborations include John Zorn, The Word, Phil Lesh, Don Was, John Scofield, Susana Baca, Sean Lennon, Irma Thomas, Blind Boys of Alabama, and Dirty Dozen Brass Band, among many others. Classically trained, he grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and as a teenager performed with Jaco Pastorius before continuing his studies at the New England Conservatory.
With a lifelong devotion to sound and music as tools for healing and transformation, Medeski has developed a deep understanding of ancient shamanic sound traditions and rituals. He works with a range of indigenous sound instruments and brings experience in facilitating healing in private practice as well as group ceremony and sound bath settings. In this workshop immersion, he shares his insights into healing through the worlds he has explored so closely.
