Johanne Bossmann is a self-taught artist based in Cologne, Germany. After 17 years of building and leading her own company, she went through a deep personal crisis that became the turning point for a major life change. In that period, painting returned to her—not only as a creative expression, but as a source of healing and clarity. This experience inspired her to step away from business and devote herself fully to art. Her path reflects a simple but powerful truth: it is never too late to begin again.
She is currently studying art therapy, and her work is shaped by the restorative power of creativity and the courage to return to what feels essential. Johanne’s paintings emerge from stillness. Working with heavily diluted acrylics on raw canvas, she creates translucent layers that echo the softness of watercolor. Light and shadow drift across the surface, bringing depth, openness, and a quiet sense of rhythm. Her process is slow and intuitive—a silent dialogue with color, water, and touch.
Without using brushes, she paints with her hands, allowing landscapes, waves, and atmospheric spaces to appear and gently dissolve. Nothing in her work is fixed; forms remain open, inviting personal resonance rather than a single interpretation. For Johanne, painting is a contemplative practice and a way of listening inward. Through her art, she translates inner states into visual space, creating moments of pause and inviting others to find their own calm within the movement of everyday life.
