After years of living in fear, blaming others, avoiding my feelings, trying to control everything, and believing that anger was my fuel — and that material things would somehow fill the emptiness and sadness in my heart — I eventually found my way to peace.
During an intensive training on The Path, I had a true lightbulb moment when I finally connected with my heart. That breakthrough was soon followed by an experience of pure Being during a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat.
In that moment, I truly woke up. I let go of controlling patterns, found forgiveness, reconnected with my deepest feelings, and discovered a strength and power I had never known before.
My daily meditation practice has brought greater calm and peace into my life, along with the ability to stay present with my emotions. I am no longer carried away by life, and with a deeper understanding of life’s impermanence, I can respond more often than react.
My Crohn’s disease, which I had lived with since 2001, has been eliminated. This became a clear reflection of the mental and physiological benefits of meditation, and it also inspired me to change careers so I could share meditation with more people around the world.
Learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings like a curious child, while separating them from thoughts and memories, is where the magic can happen.
Fear is often a strong sign of where you need to go.
Our minds can limit us on every level. We must learn to stop thinking in order to trust our intuition. Only then can we access the universal intelligence that lives deep within us — the answers to everything.
Forgiveness arrives when you let go. The more I release control, the more powerful I feel.
One of the greatest lessons of my life has been learning to take responsibility for everything, along with understanding that in every situation I have a choice: to react or to respond.
Meditation is the place where everything you have ever dreamed of and desired already exists. All we need to do is learn to do nothing.
Once the path opens before you, the only way is forward.
Everything we are searching for is already within us, and meditation is the doorway to it.
Meditation is the space where we can safely sit with what frightens us most and begin to understand it, often transforming it into joy and power.
Only by releasing our thoughts and our sense of time can we arrive in the Now, or in Being, and experience the bliss of our true self.
Create space in your soul.
