In 1998, after becoming ill, Jason was advised to begin practicing Transcendental Meditation. He found TM deeply beneficial, noticing positive effects on both mind and body. Earlier, in 1997, he had seen a friend who seemed calm, clear, and fully present, and asked what he was practicing. The answer was Vipassana Meditation, taught by S.N. Goenka, which Jason also began to practice and found very helpful.
In 2018, a friend introduced him to Mahayana teachings, which he experienced as rich in wisdom and compassion. Wanting to learn more, he was told he needed a teacher. Then, in 2020, he attended a public talk by Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe and was struck by his wisdom, compassion, humor, and clear, concise teachings. After completing the Autumn Buddhist Philosophy Course, Jason felt inspired to become a facilitator.
Since 1998, Jason has also run a health care clinic based on ayurvedic nutrition and lifestyle guidance, alongside acupuncture and herbal medicine for general well-being and musculoskeletal health. He lives with his lovely wife and their two lovely children, both in their late teens.
