As a Shipibo Maestra, Isabel carries an exceptional body of healing knowledge shaped by more than four decades of devoted work with medicinal plants, especially Ayahuasca. She was born into a traditional Shipibo community near Atalaya, in the rich forests of the Peruvian Amazon. Her training began at the age of five, when she started learning from her father and grandfather, both respected Curanderos and guardians of an ancestral line of shamanic healers passed down through many generations.
By her teenage years, Isabel had already gathered extensive experience working with Ayahuasca. She deepened her gifts through twelve demanding years of “dieting,” a practice of close communion with master plants and trees. Much of her youth was spent in isolation deep in the jungle, beginning this transformative path at just twelve years old. Now in her fifties, she has dedicated her life to the study of sacred plants, drawing on their wisdom in her compassionate healing work with others.
Ayahuasca remains at the center of Isabel’s healing work. She also prepares carefully made flower and plant baths designed to cleanse the energy of her patients, especially those experiencing depression, heavy emotional states, or physical weakness. With the support of her plant spirit allies and the benevolent chullachaqui spirits, mysterious beings said to inhabit the depths of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, Isabel carries out her healing journeys.
In Isabel’s care, an Ayahuasca ceremony becomes a deeply moving and transformative experience, filled with maternal love, profound healing, and the haunting beauty of Icaros, the healing songs of the tradition. She also expresses these ethereal melodies through visual art, creating intricate textile patterns and embroideries that reflect the essence of her healing path.
