
Hilary Herdman, PhD, has been studying and teaching at Rangjung Yeshe Institute at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery since 2000, bringing more than twenty years of committed scholarship and practice to her work. As a founding member of the Dharmachakra Translation Committee, she has helped preserve and share Buddhist teachings with accuracy and care. Her academic background includes an MA and a PhD in Buddhist Studies from the University of Bristol, UK, where her doctoral research focused on the origins of pilgrimage.
Her interests center on pilgrimage, devotional practice, ritual traditions, and their place within the Buddhist tradition. Hilary also serves on the Samye Institute Manager team as Content Manager. She offers heartfelt gratitude to her teachers, Khyabje Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and Phakchok Rinpoche, along with the many lamas, khenpos, nuns, and Buddhist teachers who have supported her path over the years.
