Raised in a traditional Brahmin family in the sacred city of Rishikesh, Guru Upendra was introduced to yoga and ancient scriptures from an early age by his father, a Sanskrit scholar. His path later led him to the Bihar School of Yoga in Munger, where he completed a certificate course, and then to the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy at Sivananda Ashram Rishikesh, where he studied Vedanta and deepened his yogic discipline under the guidance of Swami Vishwa Rupananda Saraswati.
Through his pranayama and Yoga Nidra sessions, he offers students a deeper understanding of different Shat Kriyas, or yogic cleansing practices, alongside practical breathing techniques. His teachings are designed to support inner awareness, helping participants turn inward, connect with themselves, and begin a more profound spiritual journey.
