Biography

The Sentinel Co-Founder. Community Thought Leader. International Changemaker.

Based in British Columbia, Canada, Gillian Maxwell is recognized for her work in harm reduction and drug policy reform, as well as for the broad network of colleagues who value her insight and experience. She co-founded the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition (CDPC), served on the board of directors of MAPS Canada for more than 10 years, and has presented at conferences across Canada and around the world. In 2012, she received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service, including helping introduce harm reduction to Vancouver and advocating for INSITE, North America’s first supervised injection site, which opened in 2003.

Gillian is also an experienced coach, facilitator, public speaker, and knowledge exchange broker, dedicated to supporting transformation in both individuals and organizations. She is a founding member of the Psychedelic Association of Canada, a psychedelic practitioner and integration coach, and appeared as a presenter in the first GoopLab Netflix series on psychedelics, The Healing Trip.
