Description

Gerardo Abboud is the president of the Dongyuling Center of Tibetan Buddhism, founded in Argentina in 1986. Born in 1945, he graduated as an industrial engineer from the University of Buenos Aires in 1969. In 1970, he traveled to India and Nepal, where he remained until 1985, dedicating those years to the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism.

Since his time in the Himalayan region, he has worked as a translator from Tibetan into Spanish and English, and since 1992 he has served as the Dalai Lama’s interpreter for Latin America. Today, he devotes his time to teaching Buddhist theory and practice at his center, as well as at study venues in Mexico, Europe, and the United States.
