Genny Kapuler has been studying yoga since 1976 and teaching since 1980. She has traveled to India three times to study with the Iyengar family, and her principal teacher was Mary Dunn. Before becoming a yoga teacher and before the birth of her child, she worked as a modern dancer and led her own company for many years.
She is also trained as an Alexander Technique teacher and practices Body-Mind Centering. Alongside her yoga background, Genny has studied anatomy in depth. She brings this knowledge into her teaching, helping students develop a more refined awareness of asana and pranayama through precise alignment.
Genny also draws on the poetics of language to shape her classes and create “a mind-state in the room that is gentle and focused.” Through Iyengar Yoga, she believes students can achieve increasingly accurate alignment of the skeletal-muscular, organ, and nervous systems. In working toward harmony of body, mind, and spirit, they are supported in moving through the world with greater grace.
