Gena Rho

Description

Gena is an educator, dancer, yogini, and certified Clinical Somatic Educator whose work supports greater ease, awareness, and freedom of movement. Based in Maplewood, NJ, her private Somatic Movement practice welcomes clients of all ages and offers a thoughtful, body-centered approach to healing and functional wellbeing.

She teaches Somatic Movement, functional movement, and yoga classes, and also leads retreats designed to deepen connection between mind and body. Gena’s primary somatic training comes from Martha Peterson of Essential Somatics, a neuroscience-based modality in the tradition of Thomas Hanna, and she currently serves as a lead trainer with Essential Somatics.

In addition to her private practice, Gena has served as an adjunct professor at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Her background as a modern dancer has shaped a lifelong commitment to movement, expression, and embodied learning.
