Born in the rural African village of Kisui, near the border of Cameroon and Gabon, Francis comes from a family deeply connected to the Iboga healing tradition. As native Iboga healers from the Ewondo tribe, his parents and close family have woven Iboga into daily life, honoring it as protector, healer, teacher, and a profound source of wisdom and support.
Within the Bwiti Tradition and alongside Iboga, his ancestors and living family played an essential role in shaping him as a healer from an early age. At 20, Francis underwent his Iboga initiation in Gabon, a place known for its strong connection to this African jewel. Afterward, he moved to Gabon with his parents and began a healing path that has now spanned 25 years, serving people from around the world as well as nearby native villages.
At Modern Ancient Sanctuary in Peru, Francis leads ceremonies in the traditional African tribal style. He uses the Mongongo harp, a sacred instrument in Iboga ceremonies, and sings live ceremonial songs to help anchor the medicine’s energy. Participants are anointed with special white powder on the body and red powder on the face, supporting the healing and alignment process.
Another unique ritual involves planting participants into the Earth, with their heads resting above ground and blessed leaves placed upon them, creating a deeply grounding experience during the ceremony. The Iboga Francis works with comes from a powerful species cultivated for 35 years, and when needed, he uses the grandmother species of Iboga, nurtured for 65 years.
Outside of his healing path, Francis cherishes time with his wife and three children, and he also enjoys playing football.
