Based in Durango, Colorado, Erin Treat has been practicing Buddhist meditation for nearly three decades. Since 2013, she has served as the Guiding Teacher of Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center, while also teaching regularly at Spirit Rock and the Insight Meditation Society. For 20 years, she held leadership roles on the Teaching Council of the Durango Dharma Center. Her teaching brings together practical guidance and deeper insight, offered with a heart that honors mystery and the many expressions of awakening.
Erin’s dharma teaching is shaped by her continuing studies in the Diamond Approach with A.H. Almaas, as well as Thanissara and Kittisaro’s Dharmapala Training, which aims to cultivate an embodied bodhisattva ideal within the Theravada Buddhist lineage. She especially values working with small groups of dedicated students over time and regularly leads classes, retreats, and mentoring for students from across the country.
Outside of teaching, Erin feels most alive dancing, hiking, cooking, and spending time in the mountains and rivers she calls home.
