I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher with a long-standing commitment to sharing yoga in a grounded, thoughtful way. I founded and led Essence of Yoga studio in Sydney, Australia for 10 years before relocating to Stroud in 2017. Originally from the UK, I spent 16 years in Australia, and the transition of moving my family across the world brought many challenges. Leaving behind my mentor, friends, students, studio, and the country I had come to love asked me to let go in a profound way. Through that process, I discovered a strength within myself that I had not fully known before. Yoga teaches that suffering often comes from attachment, and when fear arose around change, it became clear why I needed to step into the unknown. I believe true freedom comes from trusting life’s flow and finding the inner guide rather than depending entirely on what is external. The past year has been a powerful reminder of that lesson.
My love of yoga began in the early 2000s while travelling through India with my husband. We lived and studied at a yoga ashram, and from the very first day I felt an unmistakable sense of belonging, as though I had returned home. I knew then that I had found a path that could help me navigate both myself and the world around me. Two years later, I completed Hatha Yoga teacher training, and later expanded my studies through pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher training.
By 2006, I had been living with severe back pain for several years following an accident. Nothing seemed to help, and I was told by the medical world that I would need to learn to live with it. Around that time, I met Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Glenn Ceresoli and his wife Margaret Ceresoli, and this meeting changed everything for me. Their guidance transformed my practice, teaching, and personal and spiritual life. I began intensive work with Glenn through the Iyengar method, and after four months the pain was gone. Deeply moved by this experience, I felt called to share the work with others. I completed his Level 1 and 2 International Iyengar Teacher Training, qualified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher, and continued my mentorship with Margaret for the following decade.
Although my main focus has been Iyengar Yoga, I am also a qualified Thai Yoga Massage therapist and have studied Ayurvedic Lifestyle to enrich both my practice and teaching. At present, I divide my time between teaching, ongoing yoga study and practice, caring for my two young children, Rumi and Lila, and exploring the beauty of the Cotswolds.
I am devoted to yoga as a path for developing strength, flexibility, and balance in both body and life, while deepening self-knowledge, awareness, and inner peace. My classes offer students the chance to explore the essence of yoga in an authentic, practical, and supportive setting.
Iyengar Yoga is a highly researched system, and its emphasis on alignment, sequencing, progression, and the use of props makes the practice accessible to people of many ages and varying levels of health and fitness, allowing them to experience its benefits through a sustainable yoga practice.
