Elaine has experienced the profound impact of psychedelic-assisted therapy through plant medicines firsthand. It supported her in moving through postpartum depression and anxiety, while also helping her heal deep ancestral and lineage trauma carried through her family line. That journey has shaped her into a more grounded mother, wife, daughter, and human being.
She is a devoted student of the plant teachers and the Buddhist Dharma.
Elaine is passionate about expanding access to psychedelic-assisted therapy and believes that intentional use and integration are essential to realizing its full potential.
Outside of building Nectara’s vision, she enjoys identifying wild herbs and mushrooms in the forest. She is a certified herbalist, end-of-life doula, and breathwork facilitator. Before Nectara, Elaine worked as a user experience designer, where she developed a strong interest in creating human-centered systems and processes.
Elaine’s lineage comes from Malaysia. She is a fifth-generation Malaysian Chinese and identifies with her Peranakan roots from Penang. She currently lives in Canada with her husband and co-founder, Pascal, and their son, Noah.
