Dr. Rakesh Nair serves as the Senior Physician at AyurVAID Hospitals at Aster CMI. With a deep passion for ayurveda, he brings nearly 14 years of experience in clinical ayurveda, shaped by his work at Kottakal Arya Vaidyasala for 5 years and Birla Kerala Vaidyashala for 2 years. He also contributed to academia through his teaching role at Hillside Ayurveda Medical College in the Department of Dravya Gunam.
Committed to introducing authentic Ayurveda in the Keraliya style across North India, Dr. Rakesh is also an avid explorer of flora and fauna. His Master’s research focused on the identification and use of medicinal plants, and this expertise informs the programs and treatment regimens at AyurVAID Kalmatia. Drawing on 8 years of experience and practice, he customizes care using the rich local flora he identifies in the region.
His experience also includes managing the COVID Care Centre at CV Raman Nagar in 2021 and supporting COVID patients through an integrated care model. At Aster CMI, he is involved in the integrative management of sub-acute neurological conditions such as road traffic accident rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease, acute pain management, and spinal disorders. He works closely with neurosurgeons and physiatrists to design personalized treatment protocols and carry them out.
In addition, he collaborates with nephrologists on cases including elevated creatinine levels, hyperuremia, metabolic nephropathy, and cachexia, with the aim of improving functional health parameters and helping prevent progression while reducing the effects of dialysis.
He also applies classical Ayurveda protocols and diagnostics in palliative care for conditions such as mucositis, insomnia, neuropathy, fatigue, anxiety, nausea and vomiting, and generalized constipation, especially for patients undergoing chemotherapy for breast and ovarian cancer. He is currently developing intervention protocols for these conditions, including diagnostics, severity assessment, quality-of-life and disability evaluation, and progress tracking using international scales and modern diagnostic tools combined with Ayurveda principles.
