DR. JOSEPH BARSUGLIA

Clinical and research psychology advisor, Dr. Joseph Barsuglia works at the intersection of psychedelic medicine and alternative healthcare. His focus is on creating safe, sacred environments for working with psychedelic and earth medicines in support of healing and spiritual awakening. He brings particular expertise in ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT, and previously served as Director of Research and CEO at Crossroads Treatment Center in Mexico, a psychedelic treatment center. In that role, he led the first and largest observational research on 5-MeO-DMT and ibogaine, contributed novel brain imaging data, and helped develop administration guidelines for 5-MeO-DMT. More recently, he worked as a co-investigator in phase 2 clinical trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD in Los Angeles, sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). His research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and he is the lead advisor on research and protocol development for trauma treatment at Beond.
