Dr. Grace Dammann is a physician recognized by the Dalai Lama for her exceptional work with AIDS patients, and she spent many years living at Green Gulch Farm. Her life changed dramatically after a head-on collision on the Golden Gate Bridge. Following 48 days in a coma, she awakened against the odds. After the initial relief of survival, the demanding and often painful work of rehabilitation and caregiving began for Grace and those supporting her. Today, she leads the Pain Clinic at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center from a wheelchair.
A film documenting Grace’s recovery and rehabilitation was produced by Helen S. Cohen and Mark Lipman, titled States of Grace.
