
Dr. Deepika Gunawant is a highly respected Ayurveda physician with more than 40 years of experience in clinical practice, research, teaching, and global advocacy for Ayurveda. She is widely recognized as one of the leading Ayurveda doctors in Delhi and specializes in lifestyle and metabolic disorders, women’s health, skin conditions, gastrointestinal issues, joint pain and arthritis, and respiratory ailments.
She earned her BAMS degree from Kolkata University in 1985 and completed her MD in Ayurveda in 1990. Dr. Deepika began her professional journey as an Honorary Physician at Bhowanipore Ayurvedic Clinic, where she was involved in research and charitable healthcare. She later joined Dabur India Limited, contributing to product development, clinical research, and international business growth while representing Ayurveda at many national and international workshops and seminars.
Her work abroad took her to the Ayurvedic Company of Great Britain in London, where she served in several important positions, including Marketing Director, Associate Lecturer at Thames Valley University, Chief Physician, and Consultant at Wimpole Street Clinic. She also worked as an Honorary Consultant with the MHRA, focusing on Ayurveda medicines and herbs, before taking on leadership roles in Global Regulatory Affairs and Business Development at Dabur International and Dabur India Limited.
Dr. Deepika has played a key role in building integrative wellness initiatives at Max Ventures and has served as a Consultant with AYUSH. She is currently the Additional Medical Director at Apollo AyurVAID and works as a Consultant for several companies involved in wellness and Ayurveda-based product development. She has also represented Ayurveda at WHO workshops and initiated clinical trials in Italy.
She is a co-author of The Complete Illustrated Guide to Ayurveda, which is available in more than 500 libraries worldwide. Dr. Deepika is the Founder President of the British Association of Accredited Ayurvedic Practitioners (BAAAP) and a Founder Member of the Central Italian Institute of Oriental Medicine (CISMO). In recognition of her outstanding contribution to Ayurveda, she received the Pranacharya Award in 2008.
