Dr Clair Le Couteur (they/them) is a visually impaired vocalist, artist, and scholar whose work brings together voice, resonance, and folk heritage. Through performance, teaching, and research, they create space for deep listening and a richer awareness of how sound can be felt as well as heard.
With specialist knowledge in vocal harmonics and somatic voice work, Clair teaches and performs internationally across a diverse range of settings, including music festivals, museums, universities, theatres, and galleries. Their approach invites participants into an embodied exploration of the voice, blending technical skill with curiosity, sensitivity, and creative expression.
Clair has also received awards for original arrangements of Anglo-Celtic folk music. Their practice-based Fine Art PhD, The Fictive Museum (RCA, 2017), examined the spaces between fact, fiction, and institutional voice in museums and archives.
