Don Miguel

Don Miguel

Description

Shipibo curandero

Also known as Senen Yoi, meaning “Speaking the Truth”

Born in the Shipibo community of Roaboya on the Ucayali River, Don Miguel grew up immersed in ancestral wisdom. His grandfather, Angel Sanchez Vargas, served as the community’s curandero and was widely respected for his mastery of sacred plant medicines and his healing guidance. A later school in Roaboya was named in his honor, and the community itself became recognized as the first indigenous community 114 years ago.

From an early age, Don Miguel began his own path as a curandero through plant dietas under his grandfather’s care. He carries deep knowledge of sacred medicines and also trained as a literature professor, with a strong passion for teaching the Shipibo language and culture.

Since 2012, he has dedicated most of his time to lectures, workshops, initiation courses, and retreats. During retreat, Don Miguel will lead Ayahuasca ceremonies, guide circle discussions, and be available for personal consultations.
