
For more than a decade, I was fortunate to call the island of Ibiza home. During that time, I ran an excursion business, guiding people to discover the island’s hidden and beautiful places. Five years ago, my housemate, a yoga teacher, encouraged me to begin practicing yoga to help with back issues. At first, I was drawn to it mainly for the physical benefits.
Very quickly, though, I discovered something much deeper. After each practice, I felt more relaxed, my mind was quieter, and I noticed a real lift in my mood. What I hadn’t understood at the beginning was that yoga is, in many ways, a moving meditation. Along with building strength and flexibility, the flow of postures and the rhythm of the breath give the mind a clear focus in the present moment, helping it to settle. I soon made morning yoga part of my daily routine, and I’ve been enjoying its benefits ever since.
