With his calm presence and deep spiritual understanding, senior teacher Dharmananda brings a lifetime of devoted practice into teachings on Tantra Yoga, metaphysics, and expanded consciousness for students around the world.
He may seem like a modern spiritual master wrapped in mystery and simplicity. Yet behind his quiet nature is a warm, witty sense of humor that often surprises and delights even the most serious people.
At the same time, he is an exceptionally humble and disciplined yogi, widely respected as a skilled authority on meditation and the workings of the mind.
Born in Israel in 1977, Dharmananda faced serious health difficulties early in life. Those challenges shaped his maturity and led him, from a young age, to reflect on the meaning of existence and the purpose of life.
He became deeply drawn to the Scriptures, especially the creation story in the Book of Genesis. Although he always carried a strong inner belief in God, his spiritual journey truly began to unfold in 2001, when he joined a Tantra Yoga Level 1 retreat at the age of 24, following his brother Somananda’s advice.
That powerful experience was interrupted by family and financial responsibilities, which brought him back to Israel for two years. Even then, he longed to return to his studies. In 2003, that wish came true when he resumed his spiritual training in Thailand.
This became a turning point in his development. After completing his first Kashmiri Shaivism workshop and a later retreat, Dharmananda experienced his first peak spiritual realization. The experience transformed him physically, mentally, and emotionally, and showed him that everything he had previously understood about life and love was incomplete.
With a clear sense of purpose, he gave up all other ambitions and committed fully to the path of self-realization. Since then, he has devoted many hours each day to sadhana, his spiritual practice. This dedication supported his rapid growth and led to rare, powerful initiations in Yoga, meditation, Kashmiri Shaivism, Tantra, and Kundalini Yoga.
Dharmananda began teaching Hatha Yoga in 2004. As his inner progress deepened, his teaching role expanded as well. By 2008, he was leading meditation retreats and helping students from across the globe explore the deeper layers of the mind.
Today, he serves as a senior teacher for the Somananda Tantra School and travels internationally to share the ancient wisdom of Tantra and Yoga. His teaching is especially strong in Laya Yoga, third eye opening, and crown chakra awakening as pathways to higher states of consciousness.
When he is not teaching, he spends much of his time in deep personal retreats. He remains devoted to helping others discover the profound beauty and love that Yoga can bring into their lives.
