David McKay (he/him) entered a Zen Buddhist monastery at the age of twenty-nine, beginning a profound journey of training in silence that lasted for eighteen years. During that time, he developed deep experience as a facilitator and counselor, leading retreats and workshops both at the monastery and in communities around the country.
In the fall of 2014, David left monastic life to continue exploring practice and everyday living beyond the monastery. He now lives in the mountains of North Carolina, where he supports awareness practice through online and in-person meditation and discussion groups, workshops, one-on-one guidance, and retreats. His work offers a grounded, compassionate space for those seeking stillness, reflection, and practical support on the path of mindfulness.
