
David studied at the Royal School of Church Music and the Tanwood Theatre School, and holds a BA(Hons) from City University.
His acting career spans more than 39 years, with appearances in West End plays and musicals, as well as tours and concerts. His credits include Cats, Dirty Blonde, Les Miserables, Blood Brothers, Starlight Express, When Pigs Fly, Party, Crazy for You, Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, La Cage aux Folles, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, My Fair Lady, Me and My Girl and Ziegfeld. He has also directed and performed in more than 20 pantomimes, and has worked throughout the UK, as well as living and working in Paris, Torino and Monaco.
Working as a freelance theatre creative and lecturer, he currently teaches at The Royal Academy of Music and offers private singing tuition, with practices in London, Paris and online. He has also worked extensively at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, ArtsEd, London College of Music, London Studio Centre, Millennium Performing Arts, The Oxford School of Drama, Bath Academy of Musical Theatre and Accademia Dello Spettacolo in Turin, Italy.
David was a founder trustee for Read College, a new proposal reviewer for Methuen Drama, and is currently an exam repertoire consultant for the ABRSM.
More recently, he created and directed Grief Chorus in 2022 and 2024 for Complicité, The Threepenny Opera for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and a series of productions at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon, including Sleeping Beauty, Annie, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Legally Blonde, Jack and the Beanstalk, Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang and Summer Holiday. He also directed Rapunzel at The Theatre in Chipping Norton, which was nominated for Best Pantomime 2021/2022 at the UK Pantomime Association Awards, and Aladdin at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings. Additional credits include The Sound of Musicals at the Teatro Murialdo in Turin for the 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2025 seasons, Bad Girls for London College of Music, musical direction for Coram Boy at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and pre-production consultancy for Il Piccolo Principe, Musicanti di Brema and The Selfish Giant for Mario Restagno at Accademia Dello Spettacolo in Turin, Italy.
