Danny Soten Lynch is a Dharma Holder and ordained Zen priest whose path reflects both deep practice and creative expression. He lived as a monastic resident at Great Vow from 2010 to 2020, completing his novice training in 2019. During that time, he brought a vibrant musical spirit to the community, serving as Music Director and helping renew the liturgy with fresh energy and devotion.
Music has been a lifelong companion for Soten, and he has shared that passion by leading both a monastery choir and the Great Vow marimba band. Alongside his spiritual and artistic work, he is also an avid long-distance runner and outdoor enthusiast. His love of the natural world inspired the development of the wilderness sesshin, blending contemplative practice with the stillness and challenge of time spent outdoors.
