Tabla drummer and vocalist Daniel Paul holds a Tal Vadya Bid degree in the classical music of India from the Ali Akbar College of Music, awarded in 1984. His path was shaped by nine years of intensive study with some of India’s most respected masters, including Ali Akbar Khan, Zakir Hussain, Jnan Prakash Ghosh, Swapan Chaudhuri, and Chitresh Das.
Through this deep training, Daniel became part of the College’s teaching and performance community, appearing with the New Maihar Band, the College Orchestra, and tabla drum ensembles. He also served for seven years as personal assistant to his teacher, the late Maestro Khan, supporting performances on tamboura during tours and rare quartet appearances with Ravi Shankar, Allah Rakha, and Zakir Hussain at Carnegie Hall and festivals across India.
