Chris Benitez has been devoted to meditation practice since 2012, developing his path through a wide range of retreat experiences in both the Theravada and Zen traditions. His training includes month-long retreats at Spirit Rock and the Forest Refuge at IMS, reflecting a deep commitment to sustained practice and quiet reflection.
He is a co-founder and teacher at Misfit Sangha, a Buddhist community in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has also served with the Spiritual Friends Facilitators group at the Albuquerque Insight Meditation Community. Over the years, Chris has taught at dharma centers throughout the Southwest and Southeast, sharing practices in a grounded and accessible way.
Chris regularly leads daylong retreats and outdoor camping retreats in Colorado and Southern Utah. His work is especially centered on the relationship between nature and the dharma, exploring how wilderness, solitude, and the natural world can serve as both teacher and support for meditation practice.
