Since 2003, Chosetsu Lauren Bouyea has served as a residential practitioner at all three temples of the San Francisco Zen Center, bringing years of dedicated practice to a life rooted in Zen tradition. Her background includes a degree in environmental studies with a concentration in Eastern religious traditions, earned in 2002, reflecting both her commitment to contemplative practice and her connection to the natural world.
Over the years, she has held a range of temple roles, including garden manager at Green Gulch Farm from 2010 to 2014. She now lives at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center, where she also served as head student (shuso) in fall 2016 alongside her teacher, Eijun Linda Cutts. Her path reflects steady service, deep practice, and a grounded presence shaped by years of temple life.
