Chavella Cairuna Garcia

Chavella Cairuna Garcia

Description

Chavella Cairuna Garcia carries the Shipibo name Reshin Rama, meaning “a beautiful bird that is present today.” Born in the community of Santa Rosa de Aguay Tia, she comes from a family deeply rooted in traditional healing. Her father and grandfathers were respected healers, and her son is also connected with medicine, continuing this important lineage.

Her path with plant medicine began early. From the age of 14, she felt drawn to drinking medicine, though she did not yet have the courage to begin. At the time, she did not know that her father was a curandero, as he kept his healing work private while dieting in secret. When she was 18, everything changed: her father was invited to Iquitos to work as a healer, and this became a turning point for her. From then on, she began to drink medicine and learn directly with him, deepening her connection to this ancestral tradition.
