Camila Pastor, MSW

Camila Pastor, MSW

Description

Camila was raised in Lima, Peru, before moving to New York City to study architecture and pursue a life of adventure. After building a successful career in architecture and design, she saw a clear gap in access to skilled Latinx psychotherapists for undocumented communities. That realization inspired her to return to graduate school and earn a Master of Social Work, with a focus on serving Latinx and BIPOC communities in New York City.

While working at a community mental health center, Camila became increasingly drawn to holistic, body-based approaches to psychotherapy. She observed how many people, including herself, felt disconnected from their bodies, easily startled, or dissociated. This led her to deepen her trauma therapy training through modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, Compassionate Inquiry, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems, alongside contemplative practices.

In her search for alternative healing pathways, Camila returned to Peru and sat with ayahuasca at the Temple in 2021. The experience brought profound transformation and inspired her to continue studying the medicine and the Shipibo healing system. She remains deeply moved by the wisdom and potential of this plant medicine tradition.

Camila has facilitated immersive group journeys for BIPOC communities and is devoted to Latinx work, Indigenous rights, decolonization, and supporting people in connecting with their authentic selves. She strongly believes in community healing through safe sharing circles, where people gather to share stories, listen deeply, and speak from the heart.
