Bruce Davis PhD

Bruce is a spiritual psychologist, international retreat guide, and author with a doctorate from Saybrook University. His work brings psychology and spirituality together in service of a more centered, meaningful, and fulfilling life. He has taught world religions at institutions such as JFK University in Pleasant Hill, California, as well as at spiritual centers throughout the United States and Europe, including Germany, Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland.

Since 1983, Bruce has led retreats around the world, with a focus on silence, simplicity, and heartfulness. He is known for helping people move beyond the busy mind and reconnect with the “quiet heart.” His expertise also includes supporting people as they integrate profound experiences, such as near-death experiences (NDEs) or spiritual awakenings, into everyday life, always with the intention of helping others cultivate a joyful and deeply meaningful spiritual path.

Bruce’s writing career began in 1975 with The Magical Child Within You, a book many consider the first to focus on nurturing the inner child. He later co-authored the bestselling Hugs & Kisses, which helped establish a lifelong theme of loving life. His retreats have long reflected his interest in discovering the heart of awareness and inner peace.

For twelve years, Bruce and his partner Ruth lived in Assisi, Italy, where they founded the Assisi Retreat Center. Welcoming people from all backgrounds to experience the simple peace of St. Francis of Assisi, the center received an official blessing from Pope John Paul II for its ecumenical work and was named “One of the Top Ten Meditation Centers in the World” by both CNN and Travel & Leisure Magazine.

In 2012, Bruce and Ruth established the Silent Stay Meditation Center in California, creating a sanctuary for those seeking inner peace and a purposeful, joyful life. Throughout his life, Bruce has continued to pursue deep spiritual knowledge, studying and living with teachers in India, the Philippines, Germany, and Bali, Indonesia. He and Ruth also began an ongoing service program that pairs teenagers from affluent communities with students from Branson School in Ross, California, to provide food to the poorest neighborhoods of San Francisco.
