Brenda Brisch

Description

Brenda has been guiding contemplative retreats with care and devotion for more than 40 years, with a lifelong commitment to spiritual inquiry. After beginning Transcendental Meditation in the 1970s, she went on to study Vedanta philosophy and yoga with an Indian monk from Gujarat, and soon after began teaching Hatha Yoga in his school in Chicago.

In 1976, she met her teacher, Swami Muktananda, and traveled extensively with him for many years. She later became a monk under his guidance, and was instructed to continue teaching in Europe, India, and the United States. She also served as swami in residence at the Paris ashram.

Brenda joined the Assisi Retreat Community in 2015 and serves as our lead retreat leader, bringing a deep background in awareness training. She gently supports participants in discovering their own path to inner peace and in recognizing life’s circumstances as a guide to the stillness within. Drawing inspiration from St. Francis and St. Clare, she invites others into sweetness and peace. A student of A Course in Miracles and Kashmir Shaivism, she brings wisdom, love, and joy to every retreat.
