Athena is an E-RYT 500-hour certified teacher who trained at Rishikesh Yog Peeth in India. Her classes are thoughtfully designed to cultivate awareness of the breath, body, and movement, while always honoring each person’s physical structure, alignment, and safety.
She has a strong passion for trauma-sensitive teaching, a focus that continues to shape her work and one she is committed to for the long term. At the heart of her approach is a deep respect for the body, along with the understanding that yoga is not only about what is visible on the surface, but also about creating space to listen inwardly and connect with the spirit within. She also places great importance on honoring the practice itself, as well as the uniqueness of every individual path.
Athena’s journey began at age 14, when an elderly monk appeared at her doorstep with a book titled The Science of Self-Realisation by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. She convinced her mother to buy it, and after reading it, she entered a lifelong process of self-inquiry, feeling unsettled with life as it was. In her early twenties, she made a promise to search for answers through travel. That restlessness eventually led her to yoga and asana, and in 2015 she traveled to India for her training in Rishikesh.
Those three months of intensive ashram life opened the door to self-discovery and healing, and today she hopes to inspire her students to begin their own journey of self-study.
