I know this from the inside. I’m Asha Wilkerson, a licensed attorney, former tenured college professor, and founder of Asha’s Place Lisbon.
On paper, I had everything I was meant to want: tenure, financial security, and the respect of my family. From the outside, it looked like success in every sense.
Inside, I was falling apart.
At first, I didn’t have words for what I was experiencing. I only knew the exhaustion had sunk deeper than sleep could touch. I had spent so many years performing competence that I no longer knew what I truly wanted. I was the person everyone turned to, and I had forgotten how to turn inward.
In 2022, standing at the Door of No Return at Elmina Castle in Ghana, something I had been moving toward for years finally became clear: what my people have always wanted is freedom. And the version I had been living — tenure, title, performance — was not freedom.
After my 40th birthday, I left California and moved to Lisbon with no roadmap and no residency. Within 30 days, I found my studio and signed the lease.
Everything I teach now — intuitive listening, nervous system regulation, ancestral connection, and worthiness work — came from what I needed to survive my own transition.
I am a certified breathwork facilitator, Reiki practitioner, and intuitive guide. I work with tarot, astrology, Human Design, and ancestral lineage healing. But in HELD, what I’m really teaching is how to hear yourself again. That is the skill. Everything else is the container.
I’m not here to fix you. You’re not broken.
You’re between shells. And you outgrew the last one for a reason.
