
Ando Jaune Evans was ordained as a priest in the White Plum lineage by Bernie Glassman and Taizan Maezumi Roshi in 1983 at the Zen Community of New York. She now serves as a priest and senior teacher in the Bay Area Everyday Zen lineage of Zoketsu Norman Fischer, and leads the Heart of Compassion Zen Sangha in Point Reyes, California.
Alongside her spiritual teaching, Jaune brings deep commitment to social and environmental justice. She is the Executive Director of Tamalpais Trust, a philanthropic foundation that supports the protection of Indigenous Peoples’ sacred lands and waters, as well as cultural and human rights, gender empowerment, and global justice alliance-building. Her leadership also extends to service on the Board of Directors of Commonweal, the leadership team of Healing Circles, and advisory roles with the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center and Mesa Refuge Writer’s Refuge.
Through her work, Jaune offers a grounded presence shaped by Zen practice, compassion, and a strong dedication to healing and community care.
