Anandajyoti (Anthony Tribe)

Description

Bio

Anandajyoti (Anthony Tribe) has been a devoted member of Triratna for many years and was ordained in 1978. His yoga journey began in London in the mid-1970s, and after studying with B.K.S. Iyengar in India, he qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 1979. He went on to teach in England and across Europe for sixteen years before relocating to the United States, where his approach was further shaped by the breath-centered teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar.

Alongside his yoga background, Anandajyoti is an accomplished Buddhist scholar. He holds a doctorate in Indian Tantric Buddhism from Oxford University and taught in the Asian Studies program at the University of Montana, Missoula, for seven years. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Buddhist Studies at the University of Arizona, Tucson. His published works include Tantric Buddhist Practice in India: Vilāsavajra's Commentary on the Mañjuśrī-nāmasaṃgīti (2016) and, as co-author, Buddhist Thought: A Complete Introduction to the Indian Tradition (2012), both published by Routledge.
