Ananda Devi served as Ashram Manager from 2021 to 2023 and completed the Ashram’s Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2017. She brings warmth, generosity of spirit, and a gentle Irish humour to her teaching.
After a life-changing accident in 2008, Ananda Devi was first drawn to yoga. Alongside the restorative benefits of learning to move in a new way, she discovered the support of breath and stillness amid chronic pain and its mental challenges, eventually arriving at a deeper acceptance that life’s twists and turns can also be teachers.
Her background includes working in education with children of all ages and abilities, outreach in end-of-life hospice education, and the lived experience of motherhood as a mother of two.
What she loves most about sharing yoga is helping others build inner resources and find the gift of stillness within the noise of daily life, even though she does not really see herself as a “yoga teacher.” Her ideal approach is to create a space where people can move slowly and with presence, then settle into stillness and notice what arises from that place. She especially enjoys building community with women moving through the stages of life, from menarche to menopause and beyond.
She loves the sea and exploring wild places in her van, but above all treasures the moments spent with family and friends singing, dancing, and making music.
