About Amy Kisei, Sensei

Amy Kisei, Sensei is an authorized Zen teacher, Zen priest, spiritual counselor, and mindfulness instructor with nearly 20 years of meditation practice. Her background includes 12 years of monastic training and teaching at Great Vow Zen Monastery, along with a BS in Earth Science and Gender Studies. She has also completed training in Mindful Eating through the University of California San Diego’s MECL program.

In her counseling work, Kisei draws on meditation, mindfulness, dreamwork, process art, and ceremony to support healing and awakening. She is deeply committed to applying these practices in environmental justice and climate grief work, and has played an important role in ZCO’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. Her approach blends spiritual depth, practical guidance, and compassionate presence, creating space for reflection, insight, and meaningful transformation.
