Ama-ra’s path has never followed a conventional script. At just 14, she left home and, without formal qualifications, began educating herself through the school, college, and university of life, guided by determination, independence, and resilience.
Over the years, she explored a wide range of entrepreneurial ventures. Her experience includes selling homemade sandwiches at Liverpool Street station in London, working with alternative health therapies, trading clothes and music CDs on market stalls, pursuing photography and DJ work, and spending time in bars and clubs. Each chapter added to her breadth of experience and self-reliance.
Her discipline and early savings enabled her to buy her first property in her twenties, taking advantage of a rising property market. As her investments grew, she expanded her real estate portfolio through careful financial planning. Her final business in the UK involved managing long- and short-term rentals in central London.
In time, Ama-ra sold her London properties to follow a deeper calling in shamanic development, which led her to the peace of the Amazon rainforest in Peru. Through sacred medicine experiences, she found profound wisdom and healing, becoming a devoted student on her own transformative journey.
Inspired by her personal growth, she feels called to support others in discovering their highest path. That calling also brought the responsibility and extraordinary challenge of physically directing the construction of the Modern Ancient home in Peru. As a single woman who initially did not speak Spanish, she met this demanding project with courage, adaptability, and a strong commitment to creating sacred space for connection, healing, and transformation.
For the past decade, Ama-ra has lived permanently in Peru, fully immersed in its culture and community. She trained and received initiation from the Peruvian Shipibo tribe, gaining deep insight into their ancient wisdom, and also completed a traditional Bwiti Iboga initiation process.
She has facilitated countless ceremonies in Peru and internationally, working with powerful medicines including Ayahuasca, Iboga, San Pedro, and Kambo. Over the past eight years, she has also developed and successfully trialed Iboga micro-dosing programs for private clients of S [uya Devi] and Modern Ancient Sanctuary.
On retreat, Ama-ra takes a deeply individualized approach, metaphysically assessing each student to determine the most suitable medicines and doses for their overall well-being. This personal attention is central to the Modern Ancient ceremonial experience, ensuring that every student’s needs are thoughtfully held rather than treated with a one-size-fits-all model.
She offers guidance in embracing unconditional love, compassion, full responsibility, and forgiveness, especially for those moving through challenging emotional states after ceremony.
Raised with a traditional and disciplined eastern foundation, Ama-ra developed a strong spiritual grounding early in life, as well as the ability to distinguish religious practice from spiritual practice in a way that supports a peaceful path toward higher consciousness.
With warmth and compassion, she dedicates herself to guiding others through healing, self-discovery, and transformation. Her commitment to individualized care, deep knowledge of sacred plant medicine, and ability to hold a nurturing environment make Modern Ancient a sanctuary for those seeking to honor and live in alignment with their true divine nature.
Ama-ra continues to study sacred medicines and explore the plants of the Amazon. Her personal self-development practice also includes out-of-body experiences, hypnotherapy, binaural beats, oxygen, crystal therapy, and more.
